ENGIE<\/a> has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)<\/a> with Saudi Arabia\u2019s Al Jouf Cement Company (AJCC)<\/a> to develop a 22 MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) plant at AJCC\u2019s cement facility near Turaif in the Kingdom\u2019s Northern Borders Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project will cover an area of 420,000 square meters and is designed to reduce the carbon footprint<\/a> of the energy-intensive cement industry while supporting Saudi Arabia\u2019s Vision 2030 renewable energy objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The solar PV plant is expected to cut carbon emissions by approximately 1.48 million tons over its 25-year operational lifespan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By generating on-site renewable power, the plant will help Al Jouf Cement reduce dependence on conventional energy sources while ensuring stable energy costs under the fixed-rate PPA agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The system is tailored to meet AJCC\u2019s operational needs and will integrate state-of-the-art technology, including rooftop and ground-mounted installations, to optimize energy generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ENGIE will manage the project end-to-end, covering design, development, construction, and ongoing maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saudi Arabia is actively pushing for the diversification of energy resources and collaborating with the private sector to decarbonize industries as part of a broader strategy to achieve its net-zero ambitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The move aligns with the country\u2019s Vision 2030 goals to transform its economy and reduce its reliance on fossil fuels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pierre Cheyron, ENGIE\u2019s Managing Director for Energy Solutions in the AMEA region, said the project with Al Jouf Cement aligns with the company\u2019s broader mission to enable carbon neutrality through innovative energy solutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur collaboration with Al Jouf Cement demonstrates how renewable energy projects can transform energy-intensive industries,\u201d said Cheyron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ENGIE has been a key player in Saudi Arabia\u2019s energy sector for over 20 years, contributing 7.6 GW of power generation, which is 8% of the Kingdom\u2019s installed capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company also contributes 1.82 million cubic meters of desalinated water daily, representing 15% of national production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
