South Korea\u2019s Samsung C&T<\/a> has announced receiving a letter of award for the construction of the Facility E Independent Water and Power Production (IWPP)<\/a> Project in Qatar<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The $2.84 billion contract was awarded by Japan\u2019s Sumitomo Corporation<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is set to reshape Qatar\u2019s energy and water infrastructure, combining advanced power generation and desalination technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located approximately 25 kilometers south of Doha in the Ras Abu Fontas area, the project involves the construction of a state-of-the-art natural gas-fired power plant with a capacity of 2,400 megawatts (MW).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside the power plant, the facility will feature a seawater desalination plant capable of producing 110 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD), equivalent to 495,000 tons of water daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Facility E project will be developed on the site of a former power plant as part of Qatar\u2019s efforts to modernise its infrastructure to meet rising energy and water demands while maintaining environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qatar is taking bold steps to enhance its energy and water production capacities to support the country\u2019s growing population and industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
