{"id":1134,"date":"2024-12-04T14:23:12","date_gmt":"2024-12-04T10:23:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.utilitybusinessmena.com\/?p=1134"},"modified":"2024-12-04T14:23:12","modified_gmt":"2024-12-04T10:23:12","slug":"saudi-arabias-acwa-power-targets-50-billion-clean-energy-investment-in-china-by-2030","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cheeltech.com\/utilitybusinessmena\/electricity\/saudi-arabias-acwa-power-targets-50-billion-clean-energy-investment-in-china-by-2030","title":{"rendered":"Saudi Arabia\u2019s Acwa Power targets $50 billion clean energy investment in China by 2030"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Saudi Arabia&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utilitybusinessmena.com\/news\/acwa-power-taqa-consortiums-win-7-2gw-saudi-power-projects-contracts\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"910\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Acwa Power<\/a> is set to deepen its footprint in China with plans to invest up to $50 billion in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utilitybusinessmena.com\/renewable-energy\/global-renewable-energy-to-rise-with-5500-gw-of-new-capacity-by-2030-iea\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"539\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">renewable energy<\/a> projects by the end of the decade, a company executive announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to <em>Bloomberg TV<\/em>, Lyu Yunhe, head of Acwa Power&#8217;s China operations, outlined the company&#8217;s strategy to collaborate with Chinese state-owned enterprises in acquiring clean energy assets totaling up to 20 gigawatts (GW) and producing 1 million tonnes of green hydrogen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have a huge ambition to invest $50 billion in China by 2030, spanning green energy, renewable projects, green hydrogen, and desalination water,\u201d Lyu said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acwa Power, a Saudi-listed energy company, aims to close 2024 with 1.3GW of renewable capacity in China. It plans to ramp up this momentum, adding 4GW to 6GW in 2025 and targeting 5GW annually thereafter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company is leveraging strategic alliances with Chinese firms, including a partnership with China Southern Grid International for a wind power project in Uzbekistan and collaborations with State Power Investment Corporation on Saudi energy projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lyu noted that Saudi-China relations have significantly expanded since President Xi Jinping&#8217;s visit to Saudi Arabia in 2022, spurring governmental and business exchanges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSaudi Arabia\u2019s Vision 2030 promotes industrialization, necessitating strong collaboration with global manufacturing and investment leaders,\u201d Lyu said. \u201cChina, as the world\u2019s largest industrial hub, provides a natural synergy for Saudi development goals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acwa Power has also made major strides in its collaboration with Chinese partners.
