rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SPIC Huanghe Hydropower Development Co.<\/a> Ltd has signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) for two major solar projects in Saudi Arabia, totaling 1,400 megawatts (MW).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreements cover the <strong>1,000 MW Al Masaa Solar Independent Power Project (IPP)<\/strong> in Hail province and the <strong>400 MW Al Henakiyah 2 Solar IPP<\/strong> in Madinah province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The projects are part of Saudi Arabia\u2019s National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), which aims to achieve an optimal energy mix of 50% gas and 50% renewables by 2030 in line with the Kingdom\u2019s Vision 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis milestone underscores EDF\u2019s commitment to delivering clean, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions,\u201d said <strong>B\u00e9atrice Buffon<\/strong>, EDF Group Vice-President and Chairwoman of EDF Renewables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCombining technical expertise with environmental and social standards, these projects will play a vital role in advancing Saudi Arabia\u2019s energy transition goals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once operational, the solar plants will power approximately <strong>240,000 homes annually<\/strong>, displacing over <strong>2.7 million tons of CO\u2082 emissions<\/strong> each year, according to SPPC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The projects are expected to create local employment opportunities, further supporting the Kingdom\u2019s economic diversification efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The projects are structured under a build-own-operate (BOO) model, with the consortium responsible for developing, constructing, and operating the plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EDF Renewables and SPIC have emphasized their commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia\u2019s ambitious renewable energy targets while contributing to local economic growth and sustainability initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two solar IPPs are part of broader efforts by SPPC to expand renewable capacity and reduce reliance on fossil fuels, aligning with the Kingdom\u2019s pledge to achieve net-zero emissions by
