{"id":1182,"date":"2024-12-09T04:09:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-09T00:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.utilitybusinessmena.com\/?p=1182"},"modified":"2024-12-09T04:09:00","modified_gmt":"2024-12-09T00:09:00","slug":"dubai-unveils-new-services-for-electric-vehicle-ev-users","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cheeltech.com\/utilitybusinessmena\/electricity\/dubai-unveils-new-services-for-electric-vehicle-ev-users","title":{"rendered":"Dubai unveils new services for electric vehicle (EV) users"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As part of its efforts to promote sustainable mobility in the UAE, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utilitybusinessmena.com\/electric-vehicles\/dewa-grants-first-independent-ev-charge-point-operator-licences-in-dubai\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"645\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)<\/a> is offering pioneering smart services for electric vehicle (EV) users through its \u2018Green Charger\u2019 service, which provides the infrastructure for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utilitybusinessmena.com\/power\/energy-storage\/chinas-hithium-energy-partners-with-saudi-arabia-to-build-5gwh-energy-storage-facility\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"763\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">EV charging stations<\/a> across Dubai. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a>DEWA provides more than 400 \u2018Green Chargers\u2019 across the Emirate, with over 730 charging points, as most charging stations can charge two vehicles simultaneously. <\/a>Below are the steps to create an account and charge an EV using the \u2018Green Charger\u2019 account or Guest mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Creating a Green Charger account<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After registering the vehicle with Dubai\u2019s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), DEWA proactively processes the request through digital integration. The customer receives a welcome notification with details of their EV account, the insurance amount and the Green Charger card delivery fees, in addition to the payment link and charging instructions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Non-DEWA customers can apply for a Green Charger Card through DEWA\u2019s website or smart app by providing the following documents:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Individuals<\/strong>: ID card (passport copy for investors and GCC citizens) and vehicle licence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Companies<\/strong>: Trade licence and vehicle licence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Government\/semi-government entities<\/strong>: Vehicle licence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After paying the security deposit and Green Charger card delivery fees, the customer\u2019s EV account with DEWA is activated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Registering through the Dubai Now app<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After logging in to the Dubai Now app using UAE Pass, select the \u2018Driving\u2019 category, then go to the \u2018EV Registration and Charging\u2019 service and select \u2018Create New EV\u2019.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the required information and pay the insurance amount (if applicable) and the EV Green Charger card delivery fees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit the application. Your electric vehicle account with DEWA will be activated, and you will receive an acknowledgement with a request number, account details and EV charging instructions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The \u2018Green Charger\u2019 card will be delivered via courier.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Registering through DEWA\u2019s digital channels<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in\/register using UAE Pass or DEWA ID.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to the \u2018EV Account &amp; Charging Card Management\u2019 service.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fill out the required information and pay the security deposit (if applicable) and the Green Charger card delivery fees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit the application to receive an on-screen confirmation with a request number and next steps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your DEWA EV account will be activated and you will receive an acknowledgement with a request number, account details and EV charging instructions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The \u2018Green Charger\u2019 card will be delivered via courier.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Electric vehicle charging at Green Charger stations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Registered Users<\/strong>: The EV Smart Charging service enables customers with DEWA EV accounts to charge their electric vehicles by scanning the QR code placed on DEWA\u2019s Green Charger stations across Dubai.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Non-registered Users<\/strong>: Customers who have not signed up for the Green Charger service can log in using \u2018Guest Mode\u2019 to select charging packages and pay the fees through multiple channels. They can also charge their vehicles using DEWA\u2019s smart app by scanning the QR code at Green Charger stations and following the instructions.
