{"id":1207,"date":"2024-12-12T06:27:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-12T02:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.utilitybusinessmena.com\/?p=1207"},"modified":"2024-12-12T06:27:00","modified_gmt":"2024-12-12T02:27:00","slug":"taqa-water-solutions-awards-25-8-million-wastewater-infrastructure-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cheeltech.com\/utilitybusinessmena\/news\/taqa-water-solutions-awards-25-8-million-wastewater-infrastructure-deal","title":{"rendered":"TAQA Water Solutions awards $25.8 million wastewater infrastructure deal"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.utilitybusinessmena.com\/water\/suez-taqa-and-siemens-to-advance-desalination-technology\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"355\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">TAQA Water Solutions<\/a> has awarded a $25.8 million (AED 95 million) contract to Electro Mechanical Company LLC to develop an advanced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utilitybusinessmena.com\/water\/dubais-dewa-receives-8-bids-for-major-pumping-stations-project\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"957\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)<\/a> system across its wastewater treatment infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project was unveiled at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utilitybusinessmena.com\/tags\/barka-water-and-power-company-bwpc\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"49\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">IDRA World Congress 2024<\/a> and it aims to enhance operational efficiency, sustainability, and capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will integrate Siemens&#8217; SCADA technology with consultancy support from TVA Engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The centralised system will connect 91% of TAQA Water Solutions\u2019 wastewater collection and treatment network, which covers over 13,000 kilometers, 43 treatment plants, and 260 pumping stations across Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 2,000 high-performance sensors, transmitters, and instruments will enable real-time monitoring and control, creating a seamless and efficient oversight system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SCADA system is set to increase wastewater treatment capacity by approximately 20% while reducing the carbon footprint of treatment plants by up to 13%, equivalent to nearly 6,500 metric tonnes of CO\u2082 annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The system promises operational savings, including a 12% reduction in maintenance costs and over AED 10 million in annual energy savings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SCADA technology will enable proactive maintenance, enabling the early detection of breakdowns, wastewater overflows, and leaks.
