target=\"_blank\">Hassyan Power Complex<\/a>, Dubai\u2019s key gas-fired facility developed under the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, is making major progress as it supports the emirate\u2019s clean energy transition<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utilitybusinessmena.com\/renewable-energy\/energy-storage-renewable-energy\/dewa-issues-tender-for-1-6gw-solar-plant-with-1gw-battery-storage-system\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"987\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer<\/a>, Managing Director and CEO of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utilitybusinessmena.com\/electric-vehicles\/dewa-grants-first-independent-ev-charge-point-operator-licences-in-dubai\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"645\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)<\/a>,<em> <\/em>who visited the site to review its progress, the complex is central in achieving Dubai\u2019s ambitious carbon neutrality targets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Hassyan Power Complex plays a critical role in reducing emissions from power generation and bolstering Dubai\u2019s energy security by diversifying its energy mix,\u201d Al Tayer said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis supports the UAE\u2019s Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative, the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050 to provide 100% of Dubai\u2019s total power capacity from clean energy sources by mid-century.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hassyan facility is a key pillar of DEWA\u2019s energy production portfolio, which also includes the Jebel Ali Power and Water Desalination Complex, Al Aweer Power Complex, and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park\u2014the world\u2019s largest single-site solar project with a planned capacity of 5,000MW by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DEWA is also advancing projects such as the Green Hydrogen initiative and the hydroelectric power plant in Hatta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to power generation, the Hassyan complex features a desalination plant capable of producing 180 million imperial gallons of water per day (MIGD) using seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SWRO system, operating under the Independent Water Producer (IWP) model, offers a more sustainable alternative to traditional Multi-Stage Flash
