Egypt’s Petrojet has clinched a $100 million contract with Russia\u2019s Atomstroyexport, a key player in the construction of the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The announcement, made by Egypt’s Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ministry, aims to significantly advance the ambitious El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The contract, formalised this week, entrusts Petrojet with the vital task of implementing coastal protection works for the El-Dabaa NPP, which is situated along the Mediterranean coast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The scope of the agreement includes safeguarding 4.2 kilometers of shoreline, an essential measure to ensure the stability and longevity of the nuclear facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the terms of the deal, Petrojet will execute extensive earthworks, moving approximately 2 million cubic meters of earth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project also involves the supply and installation of over 800,000 cubic meters of rocks, alongside the construction and installation of more than 91,000 concrete breakwaters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The measures are designed to protect the plant from coastal erosion and ensure its resilience against environmental challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The El-Dabaa NPP, located in the Matrouh Governorate, is considered a cornerstone of Egypt\u2019s nuclear energy ambitions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As of the end of this year, the project’s construction is expected to be about 30% complete. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Egyptian government is targeting the start of trial operations for the plant\u2019s first reactor in the latter half of 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Construction work for El-Dabaa has been progressing well, with the first concrete pour for the fourth power unit occurring earlier this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The milestone is a reflection of the ongoing commitment to advancing Egypt’s energy infrastructure and diversifying its energy mix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Petrojet’s role in this critical project highlights its growing expertise and capacity in large-scale infrastructure undertakings, said the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The collaboration with Atomstroyexport, a subsidiary of Russia’s Rosatom is expected to deepen ties between Egypt and Russia to boost energy security by enhancing Egypt’s nuclear energy capabilties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
