The project, which is 96.82% complete, harnesses water stored in the Hatta Dam and a newly constructed upper dam in the surrounding mountains to generate electricity.

The projects form part of AMEA Power’s broader renewable energy strategy in Egypt, where the company has invested over $3 billion in solar, wind, and battery storage developments

Al-Babtain will design, test, manufacture, and supply steel towers for a 500kV overhead transmission line (OHTL) as part of the construction of the New 500kV LCC HVDC OHTL for the COA-SOA Interconnection Link (Portion III)

The plant is powered by Mitsubishi Power’s hydrogen-ready M701JAC gas turbine and steam turbine, and has a combined cycle output of 680.9 MW

The project will surpass ACWA Power’s existing 1.1 GW Suez Wind Farm and become the country’s largest single-asset Independent Power Producer (IPP)

The deal expands ACWA Power’s regional footprint, adding 4.61 GW of power and 1.11 million m³/day of water capacity.
