The project will surpass ACWA Power’s existing 1.1 GW Suez Wind Farm and become the country’s largest single-asset Independent Power Producer (IPP)

The deal expands ACWA Power’s regional footprint, adding 4.61 GW of power and 1.11 million m³/day of water capacity.

The project will generate enough renewable electricity to power 36,000 homes annually while offsetting 190,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

The contracts are part of the broader Iraqi Electrical Super Grid initiative, financed through SEK and EKN loans.

ACWA Power will act as the lead developer, investor, and operator of green hydrogen and green ammonia production facilities, while SEFE will serve as a co-investor and primary offtaker

This latest project brings AMEA Power’s total portfolio of solar and wind energy projects in Egypt to 2,500MW, including 2,400MWh of battery energy storage
