Sharjah recently celebrated the historic milestone of successfully processing 500,000 tonnes of waste at the Sharjah Waste to Energy facility since it began operations in 2023.
With Sharjah’s current WtE plant already diverting 90% of the city’s waste from landfills, a second facility would target processing the remaining 10% of waste to contribute to the emirates’s zero-landfill goals

BESIX will oversee operations and maintenance of the waste-to-energy facility for 35 years
